In South Africa, through its social grant programs, SASSA supports millions of disadvantaged people. While moving into mid-2025, it has become imperative for beneficiaries to stay abreast with the payment dates and the updates concerning grant increases. What follows are months of May, June, and July 2025.
SASSA Payment Dates, May to July 2025
SASSA has set certain fixed dates to maintain the timeliness of payments to all bonafide recipients and to give payment receipts adequate weight. For the month of May 2025, the Older Persons Grants were paid on Thursday, May 2, followed by Disability Grants on Friday, May 3, and on Monday, May 6, all other grants, including Child Support, were paid together with Social Relief of Distress (SRD).
The payment dates in June 2025 are: Older Persons Grants on Monday, 3 June; Disability Grants on Tuesday, 4 June; and all other grants being paid from Wednesday, 5 June onwards. And in July 2025, payments for Older Persons Grants will be made on Tuesday, 2 July; for Disability Grants on Wednesday, 3 July; and for other grants on Thursday, 4 July.
Beneficiaries should take note that if they choose to collect their funds at retail outlets or at post office branches, they should always wait for an SMS confirmation from SASSA.
SASSA Grant Increases in 2025
Earlier this year, Minister of Finance Enoch Godongwana revealed that social grants would be increased in phases during his Budget Speech. All major grants were given a light increase in April 2025 as part of this adjustment, with the next phase of adjustments to be made in October 2025.
As from May through July 2025, Older Persons and Disability Grants stand at R2,180 while Child Support Grants are at R530. The SRD Grant, widely known as the R350 grant, currently stands unchanged awaiting the review.
Conclusion
While economic pressures continue to affect South African households, keeping abreast of SASSA’s payment schedule and grant adjustments will help beneficiaries earn via better planning of their finances. But for the most authentic and up-to-date sources of information, always stick to official SASSA communication channels.
