eWIT (Empowering Women in IT) In Partnership with ISACA Chennai Chapter & STPI, Chennai conducted Certification Workshop on Cyber Security On19th December 2019 (Thursday) during the time: 9.30 am- 5.30 PM at STPI Chennai.

Cyber Security Workshop: There are many domains which form part of Cyber Security such as Application Security, Data Security, Infrastructure Security, Control Processes, Human Security, Legal etc. In this workshop our knowledge partner ISACA focussed on Application Security.

We all are aware that in the Cyber world attack vectors to breach the Organization’s information/digital assets are many folds. These vectors exploit the vulnerabilities which exist in Applications, Infrastructure, Processes to steal /compromise the assets. In Application Security, the participants were taken through the following

  • What Are Application Vulnerabilities
  • How they can be addressed in Design and Construction of Application
  • How the Application be tested for these vulnerabilities
  • What are the aspects of Secure SDLC

The event was attended by Dr Sanjay Tiwari, STPI Director; Ms. Kritika – STPI Joint Director, and Mr. M. Prabhu – MAS, STPI. ISACA President Ms. Jayashree Chandrasekar, Secretary Vaidyanathan Chandramouli, Director Training – Mahesh Balakrishnan, Director-Audit Suresh Kumar, Director Programs Ms. Jamuna Swamy were also present.

Mr. Karthikeyan Krishnamoorthy, Cyber Security Expert

The workshop was well attended by Developers, Technical Leads, Solution Architects, Testers and Information Security Team from banks, IT companies, colleges and few students and we had a participation of around 75 people in this workshop. Every participant was given a certificate at the end of the workshop.

We received a very encouraging feedback from the attendees and with a request for more hands-on sessions, real time examples, focusing on problem solving skills and techniques. Request was also made if we can conduct these sessions on weekends and if the presentations can be shared to the people present. Few infrastructure issues need to be taken care. Specific request for Pen Test Report generation and two-day hands-on workshops were also received.

Thanks to STPI for providing the infrastructure to conduct the workshop and providing support as Event partner and ISACA for providing valuable knowledge partnership and excellent facilitators who conducted the workshop. Thanks to Prosmack, an upcoming Digital marketing company who designed the invite and did the social media marketing for the event.

There was very good feedback from the participants requesting for more such sessions in the future with focus on VA/PT.
